Tories have ‘reverted to type as the nasty party’
A UK Government minister has reiterated his warning of a housing market bubble in areas such as the north-east, claiming “amber lights” are flashing.
Business Secretary Vince Cable triggered a row at the top of the Liberal Democrats last week by claiming the region and London were experiencing “serious” house price inflation.
He said the coalition government should rethink its flagship Help to Buy scheme – which will allow people to purchase homes up to a value of £600,000 on a 5% deposit – because it could create an unsustainable boom.
