Darling joins drive to block A9 speed traps
FORMER chancellor Alistair Darling has joined the battle to block the installation of average-speed cameras on Scotland’s most notorious road.
The Labour MP said the best way to cut the carnage on the A9 would be to upgrade the entire 80-mile stretch between Inverness and Perth to dual carriageway.
He also highlighted the outdated design of the trunk route – which goes back to the 1970s – as a key reason for its appalling accident record.
