Sharp rise in abused horses being rescued
The number of abused and neglected horses being rescued across Scotland has risen sharply, a leading animal charity has revealed.
World Horse Welfare has reported a 23% increase in admissions in the past year and has launched an emergency appeal for funds to help its rehoming centres cope with the demand.
The Aberdeenshire base at Belwade farm, near Aboyne, has taken in groups of up to nine, as well as a large number of single horses.
