Age no barrier as Freya, 14, races the elite

An Inverness schoolgirl is proving she can hold her own with top mountain bikers in downhill racing after winning her first trophy.

Freya Avis, 14, started competing as a downhill mountain biker two years ago but is already ranked third woman in Scotland in the tough discipline.

She was awarded the trophy for the most improved female rider by the Scottish Downhill Association for her performance in its races throughout the summer season, competing against experienced World Cup riders.
