Henderson’s double dose of misery
Huntly’s John Henderson missed three darts at double 20 which would have clinched him a PDC world darts championship quarter-final place before tumbling out of the competition at Alexandra Palace, London, last night.
The Scot, up three sets to two and leading the sixth set 2-1, had his big chance to beat Welshman Mark Webster with three darts at double 20. He was high with all three, however, and Webster went on to level the match at 3-3 before claiming a thrilling 4-3 victory by winning the next.
The 40-year-old from Huntly, who plays for Masada Bar in Aberdeen, had never progressed beyond the first round until this year where he created the shock of the tournament so far in eliminating world number seven Dave Chisnall.
