Residents on alert over break-ins rise

HOUSEBREAKING incidents are on the increase in Moray, a senior police officer has admitted.

While the overall crime rate has fallen, the number of homes broken into has risen, according to Superintendent Mark Cooper, the area’s head of operations.

There were 269 housebreaking incidents in Moray and Aberdeenshire between April and December in 2012 – and 348 in same period in 2013.
