Dons fans face jail over match flares

TWO Aberdeen FC fans who were caught with smoke grenades and flares at Dundee United’s Tannadice stadium on New Year’s Day were told yesterday they “almost inevitably” face jail.

Findlay Duncan and Nicholas Simmers have also been banned from football matches after admitting possessing the items when they appeared at Dundee Sheriff Court.

A sheriff told them that the pyrotechnic devices “need to be gotten rid of from Scottish football”.
