Manager Derek McInnes asked the midfielder to stay at Pittodrie, but the 22-year-old’s contract was terminated after he featured rarely for the Dons after signing a three-year contract in June.

Wylde said: “I spoke to Derek and he understood my situation. I told him I wanted to play football. I spoke to him again earlier this week and he asked me if anything had changed. I told him I just wanted to go and play football. Even when I left he told me he didn’t want me to go. He asked me to stay, but my mind was made up.
