Joburg bid gives Scot Lee a major chance
Scotland’s Craig Lee and former Ryder Cup player Edoardo Molinari head into the weekend at the head of the field in the Joburg Open.
With three places in the Open championship up for grabs, along with a first prize of £170,000, the leaderboard is bunched in the European Tour event, with nine other players within two shots of the leaders.
For Lee, there could be no greater incentive, having never played in a major championship. He followed his opening 65 with a four-under-par 67 on the Royal Johannesburg and Kensington club’s West Course.
