Dons Scots squad omission gives McInnes a final lift

Aberdeen manager Derek McInnes is content his key players will be at Pittodrie rather than in Poland after Scotland manager Gordon Strachan’s decision to overlook the Dons for next month’s friendly in Warsaw.

Peter Pawlett and Mark Reynolds had been contenders to make Strachan's squad for the March 5 match but neither was included when the squad was announced on Wednesday.

With the Dons facing Caley Thistle in the League Cup final on March 16, McInnes says the omission of his players may be a blessing in disguise.
