DISCOVER the magic behind the Hollywood blockbuster, The Water Horse, with an exciting family package at the Macdonald Aviemore Highland Resort.

For only £390, a family of four can enjoy three nights’ dinner, bed and breakfast and one Loch Ness Water Horse family flexi ticket, including a mystical cruise on the loch to uncover the secrets that lie beneath.

The Water Horse – Legend of the Deep tells the story of a young boy who finds a mysterious egg on a beach. He soon realises the egg is magical and finds himself raising the mythical Water Horse.

Available from March 17 and throughout April, the Water Horse package is a must-do for film fanatics and nature lovers alike. Accommodation is in the Macdonald Academy Hotel, located in the heart of the Cairngorm National Park, and breakfast and dinner is provided in the family-friendly Highland Food Court.

A short drive to Loch Ness and guests are invited on the Loch Ness Water Horse Experience. The open-top boat will sail past the historic Urquhart Castle and Nessie spotters can keep their eyes peeled for the legend of the deep. Visitors are also given a special souvenir ticket and the children will receive a Water Horse activity pack.

From there, guests can visit the Loch Ness Exhibition Centre, which explores the area’s geological past, folklore and research, and documentary footage surrounding “Nessie” is included. Entry into Urquhart Castle, a gem in Historic Scotland’s portfolio and former home of the Grant and Macdonald clan, is also included.

Back at the Macdonald Aviemore Highland Resort there is plenty to keep the family amused, including the Highland Leisure Arena with lagoon pool, spa, regular children’s entertainment and the Spey Valley championship golf course.

The on-resort Aviemore Shopping complex also stocks big brand names, including Radley, Miss Sixty and Ralph Lauren, and with six different dining options, there is something to suit everybody’s tastes.
