A SCIENTIST is launching a cancer information service in Aberdeenshire to offer support to sufferers and help dispel the disease’s myths.
Avril Morrison, an Open University lecturer and cell biologist, will hold a 10-week evening class at Huntly open to anyone affected by the disease – be it sufferers, family or friends. She will stage an additional one-day intensive course on July 11 for those who cannot make it every week.
Ms Morrison, of Huntly, said it would tackle issues such as treatment options and discuss latest research. She added: “These classes are open to anyone who wants to learn a bit more about cancer. There is so much information available that knowing where to start is half the battle. I am not a medical doctor, so if you have any worries about your health you need to see your GP. But when it comes to biology and understanding the jargon, I really know my stuff," added the former Gordon Schools pupil.

The course, £66, starts on Tuesday at the Brander Library, Huntly, 7.30-9pm.
