Reel treat in store as fiddlers join forces for shows
Societies set for spectacular return to theatre with tribute to Jimmy Shand

TWO popular north-east fiddling groups are due to start a string of concerts tomorrow.
The Fiddlers Spectacular at HM Theatre will see Aberdeen and Banchory Strathspey and Reel Societies join forces. They will be joined on stage by Scotland’s three tenors, Caledon, and local comedy group The Flying Pigs.
Both societies have been busy rehearsing individually over the last few months and are carrying out joint rehearsals ahead of the shows.
Musical director Graham Reid said: “The accordions and fiddles are in fine form and with a great guest line-up we’re ready to make a spectacular return.”
This year there will be a selection of Jimmy Shand’s tunes to mark 100 years since his birth. Tickets for the concerts, which will run until Saturday, can be booked online at www.boxofficeaberdeen.com or by phoning 01224 641122.
