Squash youngsters picked for Scotland
PLAYERS HEADING FOR junior European championships IN FRANCE

FOUR talented young north-east squash players have been chosen to represent Scotland in next month’s junior European championships.
Mhairi Charlton and Sam Allan have been selected for the under-17 squad while Rosie Allan and Chris Leiper are in the under-15 team.
The five-day tournament will begin on May 7 in the French city of Lyon, where 17 countries will compete.
Allan and Leiper finished runner-up to Wales in last month’s home internationals and will be aiming for further success on the European stage.
Grampian’s link to the Scottish side is not restricted to players. The team will be coached by the region’s Gerry Towler and Claire Kidd.
The junior squad reflects the strong north-east influence in the adult game, where Aberdeen Squash Racquets Club duo Alistair Gorrie and Lisa Aitken were picked to represent the country at the weekend’s senior European team championship in the Netherlands.
Gorrie and the men’s team beat Spain in a play-off for seventh place while Aitken and her fellow women finished 13th.
