Chance to nominate top young employee

Montrose firm offers £1,000 award

AN ANGUS business group is offering a £1,000 award for the county’s top young employee.

The Nexus (Angus) branch of Business Network International, based at Montrose, is looking for young people aged between 16 and 25 for its Young Employee of the Year award which will be open to all businesses in the area.

The criteria are that they should work in Angus, have worked for their current employer for at least six months, and have no immediate plans to leave the company.

Organiser Kirsten Tomlinson said nominations could be made on any positive contribution young people had made to their business.

“We’ve left it open and it’s up to each employer to nominate their employee for their own reasons,” she said.

“It could be they go the extra mile and come up with different incentives and initiatives, work as hard as they can, or are just enthusiastic.

“There are a lot of youngsters out there who do work extra hard and we felt that should be recognised.”

All nominees and their employers will be invited to attend one of the group’s meetings at which employers will be invited to speak for up to two minutes to explain to Nexus members why their employees should be considered for the award.

All applications should be submitted by Wednesday, July 16, and the final decision will be made by the group’s members before the award ceremony in November.

Nomination forms are available from Mrs Tomlinson by sending a stamped addressed envelope to 24 Redfield Road, Montrose, Angus DD10 8TW or by contacting her on 01674 677270 or 07749 827812 or e-mailing kirsten.walker@virgin.net
