SIX MEMBERS of an Aberdeen juvenile football team hope to put their international credentials to good use when their club bids for Scottish Cup success this weekend.

Dyce Boys’ Club members Murray Kinnaird, Liam Kenyon, Stuart Armstong, Jonathan Reid, Jonathan Clark and captain Adam Morrison were in the Clubs for Young People (CYP) Scotland team which beat Wales 3-1 in Swansea on Sunday to win an under-16 challenge match.

Adam Morrison’s father, Alan, who made the trip to Wales to watch his son and some of his Dyce team-mates in action, hopes the experience of playing for their country will stand them in good stead for the under-16 Scottish Cup final at Airdrie on Sunday in which the lads will be up against a team from the capital.

Alan said: “Dyce will face Hutchison Vale, of Edinburgh, in the final and it will be an extremely difficult game for the boys as Vale are former winners.

“They will start as favourites but none of their players was in the Scotland squad, so we are hopeful our boys can get a result and bring the trophy back to Aberdeen.

“They were terrific for the Scottish CYP team and to win in Wales was no mean feat. Hopefully, the boys can repeat their success on Sunday.”
