Students out to fashion show success

STUDENTS from Aberdeen Business School are holding a carnival fashion show to raise funds for a north-east charity.

The third-year corporate communication and media students have been given the task of organising the glittering event single-handedly as part of a project which will go towards their final degree.

The 60 students were given just six weeks to plan the whole event, with the aim of securing 60 sponsors and raising £6,000 for CLAN, a local charity for cancer sufferers.

The students look set to surpass their target by thousands of pounds and are busy preparing for the event, which takes place at the business school at Garthdee on Friday, May 16.

The students will also be modelling the clothes, which have been supplied by major retailers from Aberdeen’s Bon Accord and St Nicholas centres. Other mentors and partners include AVC Media Enterprises, Northsound Radio and Aramark.

Hosts on the night include Northsound DJ Michael Gordon, Fiona Kennedy and the Press and Journal’s own man about town, Peter Mitchell.

As well as the fashion show, there will be entertainment from local singer Jenna Cameron and a big prize raffle and auction.

Tickets, priced £15, are available from Aberdeen Business School.
