Bayne’s fate lies in the hands of Caley Thistle

INVERNESS forward Graham Bayne is facing up to his uncertain future at the club.
Injuries have prevented the 28-year-old from playing regularly for Caley Thistle this season and First Division sides St Johnstone and Dunfermline are interested in signing the player.
Caley Thistle rejected a £50,000 bid from Kilmarnock before the January transfer window closed and the Kirkcaldy-born player, who has a year of his contract left to run, says his fate is in the club’s hands.
He said: “If the club decides it is time for me to go then it is time for me to go.
“I will just have to wait and see what happens. It would have to be a transfer as I have a year left in my contract.
“My wife just gave birth to our first child last week and I have not really been thinking about football.
“It was the same in January when seemingly there was an offer from Kilmarnock about me – I don’t know anything about any interest for me.
“No one has said anything to me and I am just concentrating on playing for Caley Thistle just now.”
Bayne admits he is determined to play regular football as he enters his peak years as a professional.
He said: “If I am here to see out my contract I will be trying to force my way into the team.
“I am 28 now and I just want to be playing as much as I can at the highest level I can.
“If I was still out of the team next season it would be something to think about it.
“I have not played as much as I would have liked. I have had a couple of injuries at bad times of the season which have not really helped.
“It is a boost to me that clubs are interested in me and it also feels good when a club wants to keep you, it is a privileged position to be in with the amount of players struggling to get a team.”
