Stirling family day

VISITORS to Stirling Castle this weekend will come face to face with some of the giants of Scottish history.

Taking place today and tomorrow, Legends, a new event at the castle, will bring together the most famous historical figures from different centuries and various iconic moments in time.

Visitors will have the chance to hear the stories of Robert the Bruce, see William Wallace in action and even have their picture taken with Mary Queen of Scots.

There will be a special area where children will be able to try out replica costumes from the past for free, a special parade will bring each day to a close and the whole cast will pose for photos.

“Legends promises to be a great day out for the whole family,” said castle manager Gillian MacDonald.

“The event covers 2,000 years of history in one day, with historic VIPs including Bonnie Prince Charlie, the Marquis of Montrose and even Robert Burns.

“Bringing together so many icons from history means there is something for everyone, no matter what their favourite time in history may be.”

Stirling Castle itself has a long turbulent history and is associated with great figures from Scotland’s past such as William Wallace, Robert the Bruce and Mary Queen of Scots.

Legends will take place at Stirling Castle today and tomorrow from 12pm to 4pm each day and is included in the castle’s admission price.
