Brewster pleased with Wood signing

Inverness forward Garry Wood yesterday signed a new one-year deal with the club.
The 20-year-old Aberdonian joined other young players Zander Sutherland, Rory McAllister, Iain Vigurs and Andy McNulty in signing a new deal with the Highlanders.
Wood spent the whole of this season on-loan at Third Division Montrose, scoring 11 goals – despite suffering a hernia injury which kept him sidelined for six weeks.
Caley Jags manager Craig Brewster said: “Garry certainly has potential and that is what I am looking for in young players. We are delighted to have him for another year.
“Sometimes you have to look at young players and think what is the best and quickest way they can learn the game. That is the reason I sent Garry and Zander out on loan last year.
“I have kept in touch with Montrose manager Jim Weir and he was singing his praises throughout the season.
“He has to put pressure on Rory McAllister and is a big strong boy and a worker.
“He will not be behind anybody in the pecking order and I will be asking him to get on with things from pre-season.
“We have to create an environment where all the young players have an opportunity to perform.
“It is about trying to blend the youngsters into the team at the right times.”
Wood, who signed for the Caley Jags in 2006 from Elgin City, said: “The year out on loan at Montrose helped me improve a lot and hopefully I can make the breakthrough into the first team.”
