A DRESS created from Baxters soup labels was paraded on a catwalk yesterday to mark the opening of the Moray-based company’s new £1million store at Selkirk.

Former Big Brother contestant Shell Jubin wore the red, orange and black gown, which was created by Glasgow-based theatrical costume designer Mandy Bryan.

More than 400 labels from Baxters’ soups were used to make the outfit.

The new Selkirk store is Baxters’ fifth retail outlet in Scotland and provides 20 new jobs in the Borders town. It features a food hall, a section for cookware, books and gifts, and a new 110-seat restaurant.

Food and drink from 11 producers in the area is also on sale following a pledge made by Baxters last year to support local produce.

Store manager Teresa Tierney said: “We’re delighted with our new store, which will provide a real contemporary leisure shopping experience in the heart of the Scottish Borders.”

The company also operates stores at Fochabers, Blackford in Perthshire, Kathellan in Fife and Ocean Terminal in Edinburgh.
