Poland is best value for short arts break
Cities price breakdowns for visitors

CULTURE vultures should pick Poland if they want the best value for an arts and entertainment short break.
But while the Polish capital, Warsaw, provided the least-expensive culture break, London was the priciest in a Post Office Travel Services survey of 10 cities.
The cities were judged on the cost of trips to museums, galleries and heritage sites.
Even though some of the London attractions were free, a cultural weekend there would set visitors back £308.30. This compared with just £75.28 for Warsaw and only £103.52 for Prague.
The next-dearest city after London was New York, where attractions would cost £260.64, just a little more than the Barcelona figure of £259.31. The London attractions included free entry to the Tate Modern and the Natural History Museum. But a visit to the Royal Opera House cost £137 compared with just £24.12 for the Polish National Opera in Warsaw.
A Royal Ballet night in London cost £81, while other attractions chosen for the survey included Buckingham Palace (£28.50), Hampton Court Palace (£13.30) and the Tower of London (£16.50).
Visiting Buckingham Palace compared unfavourably with Rome’s Colosseum, Forum & Palatine (£9.15), Prague Castle (£8.80) or Chateau of Versailles, outside Paris (£16.64). Amsterdam’s Vincent Van Gogh Museum was the most expensive art gallery (£10.40), and Berlin took the prize for top-priced music (Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra, £58.23).
Post Office head of travel Helen Warburton said: “We based our report on the idea culture vultures will pack in two gallery visits a day and spend evenings at music-based events.”
