POLICE were involved in an armed siege last night after reports that a man had barricaded himself in a house.

Officers from Central Scotland Police were deployed outside an address in Hallglen Terrace, Glen Village, Falkirk.

The street was cordoned off and nearby residents evacuated as a precaution.

Officers were first called to the scene on Thursday night with an armed deployment drafted in around lunchtime yesterday.

An arrest warrant has been issued for a man, who is believed to be inside the property.

A spokesman for Central Scotland Police said: “We are currently dealing with an ongoing incident at Hallglen Terrace in Glen Village, Falkirk.

“Armed officers are in attendance along with other officers from Central Scotland Police at an address there.

“Public safety is a priority at this time. We have no further comment.”

Thomas English, who lives nearby, said: “This is normally a sleepy wee village. It’s quite shocking.”
