TAIT Security, a division of Glasgow-based Tait Group, is expanding into the north-east by opening an Aberdeen trade counter and distribution centre at Altens.
The firm, said to be the fastest growing supplier of security products in Scotland, has a turnover of £1.5million but aims to increase this to £4million by the end of next year with the opening of its new base: its first outside Glasgow. As business develops, Tait aims to recruit further staff in 2008 to add to the initial small Aberdeen team.
Tait Security, launched only last year, supplies an extensive range of equipment including CCTV, intruder-detection, fire-alarm and access-control systems, plus structured cabling, a full range of data cabinets and network testing equipment.
The Tait Group, founded in 1978 and also including Tait Networks, Tait Audio Visual and Tait Components, has an annual turnover exceeding £5million, but has ambitions to increase this to £9million by 2010.
Group managing director Michael Tait said: “We feel it is essential for us to have a presence in Aberdeen so we can tap into the fast growing market in the oil capital of Europe.
“We aim to target security installers, structured-cabling installation firms, electrical contractors and facilities-management companies.
“I am looking forward to the next stage of growth that Aberdeen offers.”
Tait Security said it would provide innovative security solutions with a range of more than 4,000 products.
It aims to expand further, with more offices in the pipeline and a resulting increase in staff numbers.
