Choir leads the Praise in the Park
Musical treat for people of Inverness

FAMILIES and dog walkers received a musical treat yesterday as they spent a lazy afternoon in an Inverness park.
The Inverness and District Gospel Male Voice Choir performed in the bandstand in Bellfield Park to around 80 people.
The choir sang 16 hymns as part of the two-hour Praise in the Park event.
Conductor George Nash, from Nairn, said: “It went absolutely brilliantly.
“We had about 80 to 85 people there. Some of them were from the church but there were lots of young people and families there too which was good to see.
“There is a tennis court and paddling pond in the park, so many people who were using those sat and watched for a while.”
The choir began performing in the park, near the River Ness, as part of Highland 2007 and it is the second time this year that they have performed there.
The first show was in May, but due to the weather conditions only a handful of people turned out to watch.
This time to weather proved more favourable.
“It was a bit windy so my music sheets were blowing about and I had to memorise my music. But apart from that it was great,” Mr Nash added.
The next engagement for the choir is at Dornoch Cathedral on August 8.
