Tayside Police are following several positive lines of inquiry over man who sustained 11 wounds

Response to T in the Park stabbing ‘very encouraging’

A public appeal for witnesses to a stabbing at T in the Park has been “very encouraging,” according to a senior police officer.

Tayside Police Detective Chief Inspector Bruce Kerr said officers are following several positive lines of inquiry following an appeal for information.

Mark Morrison, 22, from Airdrie, suffered 11 stab wounds to the head and body when he was attacked by two men.

He had been helping a female friend during an argument at the Kinross music festival’s campsite when the assault took place.

Mr Morrison is being treated at Ninewells Hospital in Dundee, where he is said to be making good progress.

Mr Kerr said: “The response to our appeals has been fantastic and reflects well on the vast majority of those people who attended T in the Park.

“It’s encouraging that so many campers have come forward with information and I’d like to thank each and every one of them for their assistance.

‘‘Detectives have spoken to and taken statements from a large number of witnesses and have also spoken to the victim of the assault.

“A forensic examination of the scene where the incident happened has also been completed and the inquiry team is awaiting test results – a process which will take a number of days.”

Officers were called to the Blue Zone 4 area of the camp site at about 12.40am on Sunday, July 13, where Mr Morrison was found with stab wounds.

He was treated by medics at the scene before being taken to Ninewells.

Police are attempting to trace the men believed to be responsible for the attack.

One of the men is aged between 20 and 24, 6ft 2in, and of slim build. He has short brown hair, which is spiked on top and wore a green or yellow jacket.

The other man is about 5ft 8in, stocky, with short brown receding hair. He wore a red hooded top or jacket.

The clothes worn by both attackers are likely to be blood stained.

Anyone who witnessed the assault or has information which could assist the investigation is asked to call police on 0845 600 5705.

Information can also be passed anonymously to Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
