SPECTATORS at the Arbroath Seafront Spectacular were left disappointed on Saturday when a wing walking team had to cancel their performance.

The annual event, now in its fifth year, was to have showcased the world’s only wing walking formation team, Team Guinot. But the performance had to be cancelled at the last minute due to poor visibility.

The daring wing walkers had planned to sit on the edge of the top wing, directly above the plane’s propeller, as they flew at 100mph.

The crowd soon got over their disappointment as the event, at Victoria Park, had various offer activities on offer, including a Spitfire fly past, a bucking bronco and a soccer shoot-out.

The Knights of Monymusk also performed a re-enactment of life in Medieval Scotland, and children were able to try archery, quill writing and creating their own shield design.

Adults also got their slice of the fun by having their fortunes read.

A young woman was attacked in broad daylight at a crowded summer event.

Tayside Police are appealing for witnesses to the assault at the Arbroath Seafront Spectacular at around 5pm on Saturday.

The woman was standing near the archway at the entrance to Victoria Park when she was attacked and was rescued by a passer-by who came to her aid.

Her attacker was a muscular man in his early 20s, around 5ft 8ins, wearing a white T-shirt with buttons on the chest, blue jeans, white trainers and sunglasses.

Anybody who saw the incident or can identify the culprit is asked to call Tayside Police on 0845 6005705 or inform any police officer.
