Camouflage collection goes on show

An award-winning Scottish fashion designer has showcased a collection of camouflage garments in an Aberdeen museum.

Iona Crawford presented the nature and military-inspired Dreamers Collection as part of the Gordon Highlanders Museum’s Camouflage 08 programme.

The Stirlingshire woman said: “Some fabrics have been used in military training and some survived a term in Iraq. The resulting garments hold stories and history that can only be imagined.”

At just 22, Miss Crawford has already exhibited widely throughout the UK, Europe, Japan and the US.

She is a past winner of the Betty Davies Award for innovation and was recently shortlisted for the 2007 Scottish fashion new talent award for the Dreamers Collection.

The 10-piece collection was modelled by four women in a catwalk-style event that was narrated by Miss Crawford who explained each piece.

The scene was set with a camouflage-themed flower display from Aberdeen florists The Flower Room.

The collection will remain in the Viewfield Road museum for public viewing until tomorrow.

Other events in the museum’s Camouflage 08 programme have included printmaking, fashion and photography classes.
