Ornella is ready to go one better

lingfield chance for filly that went so close at york

Published:

Ornella chased home a smart filly at York last time and has every chance of going one better in the Roo Fillies’ Handicap at Lingfield today.

The four-year-old Ornella appeared to take a while to settle in Britain, having arrived from France earlier this year.

But she got off the mark with a neck success at Brighton last month.

She found only Sir Michael Stoute’s Crystal Capella too good on the Knavesmire last time and a race like this is hers for the taking.

Red Kestrel ran an eye-catching race whenthird on his racecourse debut and is fancied to get offthe mark in the 100 Aker Woods Median Auction Maiden.

The Godolphin inmate, a half-brother to former St Leger hero Mutafaweq, was held up in the rear on his first start at Leicester but finished strongly to go down by less than five lengths.

He is likely to know more about his job this time and this step up in trip will suit him.

Dispol Kylie bolted in on her handicap debut at Thirsk last time and an 11lb rise in the weights may not be enough to stop her following up in the First Transpennine Express Nursery at Musselburgh.
