Wedding show has it all

BRIDES-TO-BE inspired by the wedding gown of their favourite celebrity bride need look no further than The Scottish Wedding Show at the SECC, Glasgow, on September 20-21, where the largest collection of bridal gowns in Scotland will be showcased.

Hot this year is the 1950s-style prom wedding dress, just one of three dresses worn by Coleen McLoughlin for her recent wedding to Wayne Rooney.

The simple 1950s-style prom wedding dress, being brought to the show by Ivory Whites, looks great with generous netted underskirt for maximum swish factor. Audrey-length veils, little gloves and killer heels complete the look. This is the perfect choice for brides wanting to show off their shapely legs.

Empire-line dresses are also making news. Jennifer Garner wore an empire wedding gown with teal sash for her beach wedding to Ben Affleck. This style was particularly flattering for Jennifer, who was four months pregnant at the time.

Many brides want a more traditional look. For her 2007 wedding, Eva Longoria went all out, wearing a couture mermaid gown with a scoop back and a long train, while for her marriage to Keith Urban, Nicole Kidman opted for a stunning one-shouldered gown and traditional veil – which has been named wedding dress of the century by Conde Nast Brides.

Some brides, inspired by Jordan, are opting for a coloured wedding gown. For Jordan, of course, it had to be pink.

The Scottish Wedding Show has the perfect dress for every bride. Visitors can see the latest looks from top designers and well known high-street names for the bride, groom and the bridal party on the sensational catwalk show.

The show brings together more than 300 of Scotland’s leading wedding suppliers under one roof, showcasing everything needed to make the big day just perfect.

Visitors can check out a fantastic choice of products and services, from mobile bars to mobile beauty salons, stunning stationery to fantastic favours, and expert photographers to luxury limos. There will also be special venues, bespoke jewellery, designer dresses for beautiful bridesmaids and magnificent mums, accessories, impressive menswear, exciting entertainment and wedding cakes galore.

There’s also a host of free treats for visitors, including free bridal beauty with Benefit cosmetics; the chance to win a luxury romantic break at four-star Lodge on Loch Lomond Hotel; free wine-tasting with Tesco, and free sample cocktails with Barnomadics.

VIP catwalk tickets are available in advance for a £5 supplement and include a glass of bubbly, canapes and a guaranteed priority seat.
