Lanarkshire men no pushovers

HAMILTON Accies gave Caley Thistle a lesson on how to survive in the SPL on Saturday. If Caley Thistle had thought they could show the new boys a thing or two they were sadly misguided as the men from Lanarkshire were hugely impressive.
At the back they look big, solid and difficult to break down. In the middle of the park they work tirelessly and the Inverness midfield was harried, hassled and closed down from start to finish.
In Richard Offiong they have a very dangerous attacker well capable of punishing mistakes. In short, they look well prepared for life in the top flight.
With their workrate enormous and their confidence growing, they are going to make life hard for every other team in the division.
Home supporters were left scratching their heads as to why a team so impressive last week looked second best seven days later.
There was a lot of sympathy for young Jamie Duff, whose error on his debut gifted the Accies their goal.
With Grant Munro out for some time he may be called on again which will be a test of his courage and character.
I hope he succeeds and believe he can.
It was just one of those days where nothing went right for Inverness. Set-pieces were poor and crosses never threatened.
They hardly had a shot on target and in the latter stages looked increasingly shapeless and desperate.
The one slight bright spot was the performance of new boy Adam Rooney, who showed he can play a bit and could prove to be a good signing.
Tonight’s visit of Liverpool has been long awaited. It is, of course, a well deserved testimonial for Barry Wilson and I believe the organising committee are promising it will be quite a show.
A few tickets remain, so if you’re at a loose end this evening get down and enjoy the fun.
