PETS were on parade in Fraserburgh yesterday as the local branch of the Cats Protection League staged its biggest fundraiser of the year.
All creatures great and small drew crowds to the town’s leisure centre throughout the day.
Dogs and cats competed for silverware alongside other, smaller animals.
The show, now in its 12th year, is expected to raise hundreds for the local league.
Branch co-ordinator Margaret Strachan said: “It was a fantastic turnout. It was great to see the show so well supported. We started it out as a side attraction for the local gala, but it has continued long after the gala stopped.”
To celebrate its anniversary, a special award was given to Sam the cat, owned by Melissa McRae, of Gallowhill Road, Fraserburgh, who has been a regular to the show since year one.
The Deejays cup for the overall winner went to Birman cat Hamish, owned by Christine Gunn, of Mid Street, Inverallochy.
Other best in show awards went to dog Marley, owned by Amy Macintosh, of Ward Road, Rosehearty, and a snake owned by Katherine Foster and Stuart Moran of Blackhills, near Peterhead.
Veteran trophies, for pets aged seven and over, went to Holly the dog, owned by Talia Geddes, Thomson Terrace, Fraserburgh, and 17-year-old Misty the cat, owned by Stuart Burnett, of Sycamore Road, Fraserburgh.
Another cat called Misty, owned by Robbie Bodie, of South Tophead, Memsie, won a special award for cats who have survived neglect.
The Fraserburgh Cats Protection League cup went to cats Daisy and Lilly, owned by Anne White, Baird Road, Strichen.
