Big hearts are sought to help launch north Oxjam events
Musical shows to aid famine relief

OXFAM is looking for a band of people to help Oxjam, a team who will assist others across the north-west Highlands to stage events in support of the famine relief charity.
In the past two years, regional Oxjam teams have assisted in the creation of more than 2,000 UK-wide events put on by people with a passion for music.
This year, Oxjam aims to raise more than £400,000 through its 28 regional teams and 1,000 music event organisers, beginning next month and through the winter, for a massive festival in March.
David Maitland, a regional organiser, said: “I am recruiting now in the north-west to assemble a crack team of enthusiastic music lovers with a passion for making a difference in the world.
“That team will then support people across the area to put on the events.”
They would fill the roles of media and marketing co-ordinators, support officers, treasurer and materials managers and local event co-ordinators, with a deadline for applications by the end of this week.
Anyone interested can contact Mr Maitland on 077170-64784 or email: northwestscotland@oxjam.org. He is also looking for involvement from church choirs, wind bands, ceilidh musicians, pipe bands and dancers.
“We are looking for people to arrange events in October, if possible, as this is the launch month for Oxjam,” he said.
“The people of north-west Scotland have already supported Oxjam in the past and they are going to be even more involved in this year’s Oxjam.
“Our music scene deserves that attention, and we will also be doing our bit for an amazing charity.”
