OVER the years, the historic Drumossie Hotel in Inverness has witnessed everything from small weddings to major conferences, but it is about to stage an event that is the first of its kind.
Women In Business is a one-day event being held at the hotel on Wednesday, October 1, to celebrate the growing status of Highland Business Women’s Club.
The event, supported by Highland and Islands Enterprise, will give the business community in the Highlands an opportunity to showcase their services, as well as providing members of the public with advice and support on issues from recruitment to starting up a business.
Throughout the day, seminars will take place, with guest speakers including David Sutherland, of Tulloch Homes Limited, who will address guests with a lunchtime talk entitled The Business Future of the Highlands.
Workshops by professionals from across the local commerce sectors will provide practical information on finance, marketing and employment, while prospective entrepreneurs and corporate representatives will be on hand at their stands to liaise with visitors.
Topics to be covered include: Information Commission – Complying with the Data Protection Act; Royal Bank of Scotland Employment Law, Safety and Banking and Start-up Finance; Orion Group Recruitment Advice; HIE Knowledge Transfer; Ernst & Young Tax and VAT Returns; Market Sphere Marketing, and Key Commercial Services Sage. Ness Motors and Highland Office Equipment are also taking a big role in proceedings.
Members of the public can attend the event free of charge. Lunches will be available and tea and coffee will be served throughout the day.
Highland Business Women’s Club was established in 1995 and recently enrolled its 150th member. The club is made up of dynamic women who are business owners, in employment or self-employed who are experts in a diverse array of business and enjoy meeting new members.
