Frenchman planning to re-connect with Nessie
eccentric embarking on a ‘sacred collision’ with monster of the deep on return trip to loch

AN ECCENTRIC Frenchman who gives one-man theatre performances and trains people in Paris how to breathe is returning to Loch Ness this weekend to try and re-connect with the monster.
Never mind the credit crunch and global money market meltdown, Don Jean Habrey, 56, is embarking on what he describes as a “sacred collision with Nessie”.
After meeting some media and giving a lecture in Edinburgh on Friday, M. Habrey is visiting the north to dive into the pretty chilly waters to renew his auld alliance with the beastie.
He is no stranger to cold water, however, having in a previous stunt jumped from a helicopter into the sea off Greenland where he encountered water that was minus 2C.
He said: “What I would like to do is to provide children of the earth whose living conditions are badly endangered by pollution, wars and violence, with breathing, poetry and imaginary.”
M. Habrey, whose performance name is Hors Humain (beyond human) added: “Hors Humain will breathe with the monster to send ultimate breathing to the world of childhood.”
This weekend’s trip is a warm-up for an even more dramatic visitation to Loch Ness on Christmas Eve when he plans to conjure the mythical creature from the loch, with chants, drumming, burning flares and bonfires round the shore.
He said: “On December 24 at the stroke of midnight, Nessie is expected to appear amid the black and the boiling waters of the Loch Ness.
“Nessie will breathe golden pearls for all the children from the earth, this endangered innocence that badly needs air.
“A boat equipped with a sound system will air the great organs of Notre Dame de Paris on the waves of the loch and the oratorios by Mozart, Handel and Johann Sebastian Bach will resound, together with the Hors Humain’s chants and kettledrums.”
In 1994 M. Habrey jumped from his large kettledrum lashed on the cabin of his cruise boat into the loch “to breathe behind closed doors with Nessie together with a horde of children”.
