Treble chance
There’s nothing nicer than viewing a new showhome. At Leathan Fields, Portlethen, there’s three times the pleasure to be had as a trio of stunning showhomes open their doors to viewers, writes Susan Welsh

SHOWHOMES are a bit like buses. There’s none for ages then several come along at once. But the three showhomes created by Stewart Milne Homes for Leathan Fields, its new Portlethen development, are definitely worth the wait.
Each has a different theme. The Fenwick displays professional artworks; the Kelso is a hi-tech playground, and the Whitekirk has extensive safety features.
Stewart Milne sales director Mike Cowie said: “Buying a house is one thing, but making it a home is another and our aim is to make the process as easy and enjoyable as possible.
“Working with HiTechHome, Iain Carby and Aberdeenshire Community Safety on these showhomes has been incredibly exciting.
“We have been able to produce a truly unique product that will not only inspire home-buyers, but also demonstrate how Stewart Milne Homes can offer a modern take on buying a home.”
The first phase at Leathan Fields comprises three individual developments: Leathan Mews, Leathan Grange and Leathan Grove.
Situated just seven miles south of Aberdeen, they represent a major long-term development for Stewart Milne Homes, with more than 200 houses in the first phase alone – almost half of which have already been snapped up.
The development has homes in a variety of styles, ranging from three-bedroom semi-detached and detached villas to four-bedroom villas with garages, with prices from £205,495 to £385,495.
At the top end of the market is the Fenwick, a four-bedroom detached villa with a double garage. Accommodation comprises master bedroom with en-suite shower-room; guest bedroom with en-suite facilities; two further bedrooms; family bathroom; WC; lounge; dining-room; open-plan kitchen, breakfast and family room with double doors leading to the garden, and utility room – priced from £364,995.
Tastefully decorated throughout, it is also something of an art gallery as it displays works by local artist Iain Carby, who was commissioned to create a series of locally inspired works.
Iain said: “It has been a great privilege to create this collection for Stewart Milne Homes which I hope captures the distinctive nature of the surrounding landscape and will inspire people to display art in their own homes.
“Throughout, I have attempted to inject colour, personality and life into the images, which I hope will complement the showhome and reflect the area of Portlethen.”
Showhome two is the Kelso, a three-bedroom detached house with single garage, priced from £244,495. Accommodation comprises lounge, dining kitchen, master bedroom with en-suite shower-room, two further bedrooms, family bathroom and WC.
Ideal for young couples, it features the latest in contemporary furnishings and is fitted with state-of-the-art technology, including multi-room digital sound and vision; home cinema; multi-room music; digital photo frames, and internet access throughout. All the equipment can be incorporated into a package tailored to individual buyers.
For young families, there’s the Whitekirk, a detached house with integral single garage. Accommodation comprises lounge, dining-room, open-plan kitchen, breakfast and family room, utility room, WC, master bedroom with en-suite shower-room, three further bedrooms and family bathroom.
In conjunction with Aberdeenshire Community Safety Partnership, this display house is fitted with a wide range of added safety and security features, all of which can be purchased and fitted as part of the Stewart Milne Homes package.
Leathan Fields is close to Portlethen, about seven miles south of Aberdeen. The showhomes are open for viewing Thursday to Monday, from 11am until 5.30pm. For further information, call 01224 781323.
