PANTS were on parade in Fraserburgh yesterday as part of an eye-catching charity event.

Scores of walkers stepped out at James Ramsay Park to raise cash for urological cancer charity UCAN and Fissh – the locally-led campaign for a new swimming pool and health facilities.

Blessed with unseasonably good weather, around 40 people took part in the walk, proudly wearing their favourite undergarments.

Walkers were asked to complete as many circuits of the park throughout the afternoon.

Organiser Mhairi Ross said: “It’s been a big suc-cess.

“We had a lot of people signed up for the walk in advance but others joined in on the day.

“I think the good weather really helped. And the families of everyone who took part came down to cheer them on.”

She said the money collected throughout the two-and-a-half hour event was still to be counted.

Registration for each walker was £10.

Fissh was formed to bring a new pool to Fraserburgh, along with other leisure facilities.

The group was set up following calls to re- place the town’s existing pool, which is thought to be the oldest in Aberdeenshire.

UCAN was established to heighten awareness of urological cancers and raise £2.6million to support NHS services and improve the quality of life for patients.

The charity’s centre, at Aberdeen Royal Infirmary, was opened in January.
