A REFLEXOLOGIST yesterday helped raise money for a charity which cares for people with debilitating illnesses.

Dr Melanie Jones gave customers at Inverurie’s Fennel Restaurant in Burn Lane free treatment in return for a donation to Sue Ryder Care.

The day was part of the charity’s business brains enterprise, which has set 11 small, north-east companies a challenge to multiply £50 as many times as it can by the end of October.

Sue Ryder Care, which runs a neurological care centre in Kincorth, Aberdeen, gave the companies the money a few weeks ago, asking them to put their business skills to good use. Kemnay-based Ms Jones, 45, who runs the Hand Therapy Company, said she raised more than £50 for Sue Ryder Care in the first two hours.

She is now looking to visit other north-east businesses to help de-stress their employees and raise money for the charity.

She said: “It would be great if there are any other companies out there that want to support the charity. I’ll come in and work for a few hours between now and the end of October.”

Ms Jones is asking for a minimum of £5 for a 10-minute session on one hand – money which could provide pain relief for someone for 10 days or a nutritious meal for someone with eating and swallowing difficulties. To donate to the campaign, visit http://www.justgiving.com/handson4suerydercare
