Party planning

WITH the summer season firmly behind us, thoughts are now turning to Christmas.
And if talk of the festive season and its associated merriment is attracting unenthusiastic groans from colleagues, it may be time to talk parties.
Although months away, bookings are already being taken at watering holes and hotels across the country as the annual anticipation of the ‘office do’ comes around once again.
So you’ve set the date and rallied the gang, what do you do and where do you go? Although a daunting prospect it can be beneficial to start thinking about it now so the lead-up to the big night can be spent thinking about more important things like what to wear and party games.
It may be a good idea to give colleagues plenty of notice; it is advisable to give no less than three weeks’ warning for a night out – at the end of the day plenty of warning means more people will be able to come to the do.
Bring a party to a party events (BAPTAP) are becoming increasingly popular throughout the business community with many people taking advantage of the atmosphere and larger group environment. A chance to mix with like-minded individuals and enjoy a Christmas meal with colleagues in a friendly setting are among the associated advantages. These events are also an ideal solution for smaller companies that perhaps don’t have enough allocated budget to organise their own meal and entertainment.
In addition, they can provide the opportunity to do some networking, whether socially or professionally, as there may be a diverse range of businesses in attendance at the event.
One organisation that is looking ahead to the festive season is CLAN (Cancer Link Aberdeen & North). It is hosting a Christmas Cracker bring a party to a party event at Aberdeen’s Hilton Treetops on Friday, December 19 in aid of the Clan 1-2-3 campaign. Revellers will dance the night away to popular band Aquarius.
“We have already sold a number of tickets for our Christmas Cracker event, which is proving popular with small and larger companies alike,” said Clan fundraising co-ordinator Duncan Charles.
“The Christmas Cracker will be an ideal opportunity for people to enjoy the festive season in a relaxed atmosphere with friends and family while also doing their bit for a local charity.
“There has already been a lot of interest and I would urge people to get their tickets early to avoid missing out on what is sure to be a great night.”
Clan’s 1-2-3 campaign involves one charity having two years to raise £3million – and will enable Clan to build a fit for purpose facility, including a purpose-built Clan Haven.
Clan is an independent charity which provides comfort, hope and support for anyone affected by any type of cancer. Although Clan’s headquarters are in Aberdeen, the organisation covers the whole of the Grampian region, Orkney and Shetland.
