CULBOKIE teenager Stewart Ferns claimed two national titles at the Meadowbank Sports Centre in Edinburgh.

The 14-year-old Fortrose Academy pupil won both the under-15 boys’ singles and doubles events at the national junior under-15 and 19 badminton championships.

In the singles event, Stewart, who started playing badminton at the age of seven, defeated top seed Josh Neil, from Prestwick, in three sets.

He then won the doubles event with Falkirk’s Jordan Gilvear defeating Adam Hall (Mauchline) and Calvin Percival (Greenock).

Stewart was also given the Moira Skeene trophy, awarded to the best player in both age groups at the tournament, after claiming both titles.
