Head teacher has lollipop crisis licked

HATS off to head teacher Sharon Burt for grabbing the bull by the horns when her attempts to recruit a new lollipop lady for her school near Oban.

Three advertisements yielded no response, giving her just two solutions – leave the children to their own devices or do the job herself.

Despite shock and horror from the health and safety lobby, Mrs Burt now closes Achaleven Primary School five minutes earlier than scheduled and is in position, lollipop in hand, to help the pupils across the road as they leave. That’s dedication for you.
