stoneywood-dyce ace named in squad

Cricket Scotland has selected 25 players for the national winter training squad as preparations begin for next year’s World Cup qualifying competition.
Stoneywood-Dyce allrounder Jan Stander, the South African who recently qualified for Scotland honours through residency, is the only uncapped player in the squad.
Stander, who has lived and worked in Aberdeen for four years, said: “I’m delighted to be involved with the squad. It is every cricketer’s dream to play at the highest level and now I could get that chance. I haven’t done anything yet, however, and will have to force my way into the team on merit."
A further 10 players have been named in a development squad.
Coach Peter Steindl said: “We aim to keep all our options open, so that we can choose a team to suit the conditions of whatever venue will ultimately be revealed as the location of the World Cup qualifier.
“The squad is currently enjoying a well-deserved break, but we will reconvene early next month to start our preparations for the qualifier and next summer’s busy programme.”
