HUNDREDS of enthusiasts flocked to Dornoch at the weekend for the local community association’s first model fair.
More than 400 people of all ages attended the event, organised by Brian Fraser, vice-chairman of Dornoch Community Association. The fair attracted members of a variety of model clubs and associations including Caithness Model Club and Pentland Model Club.
A range of models were on show including lorries, boats and military figures and kits and there also some for sale.
About £700 was raised at the event – £100 being donated by the Caithness Model Club – which will be used towards the refurbishment of the social club building.
Mr Fraser, who has been a model maker since childhood, said: “It went very well. We had a fantastic number of people through our doors, a lot more than we had expected.
“The donation from the Caithness Model Club was most unexpected and we are very grateful to receive it.”
Mr Fraser thanked the companies who donated prizes, which were presented for various sections at the event, and Graham Sawyer for presenting them. He said he hoped to make the model fair an annual event.
The next event at the community centre is a ceilidh on November 29 with the Addie Harper Band.
The event begins at 8pm and tickets are £5 on the door, £3 for concessions.
