Public to be given chance to vote for their favourite
Pitlochry Festival lines up 90 buskers
Published:
Organisers of the Pitlochry Autumn Festival have lined up over 90 buskers from around the country to perform at the 17-day event.
Visitors can also look forward to street plays, musicians, Roman and Highland warriors, as well as the chance to learn street dancing when the festival begins on Friday
For the first time the public will be invited to vote for their favourite act each night.
The winner from each performance will take part in the final event to find this year’s Busker of the Festival.
Michelle Hughes, a local musician who performed at last year’s event, said: “Having taken part in last year’s festival, I know what a benefit it can be to local musicians.
“Not only was it a highly enjoyable event, but it also provided me with valuable exposure, which resulted in me working locally with a number of businesses.”
Martin Anderson, of the Pitlochry Autumn Festival committee, added: “We have had a great response to our idea of opening up Pitlochry’s main street to music and performing talent. I am getting quite excited as the event draws near. We have a great line-up and have an agreement with local businesses to offer some of the performers work after the festival.”
For children, Edinburgh-based Jammin Fitness will hold two street dancing workshops with a live performance on October 25.
A Halloween marquee and ghost tours will also run throughout the festival, which draws to a close on November 2. Festival events will run Monday to Thursday from 5pm to 9pm, and from 4pm to 9pm on Fridays and Saturdays. For more information visit www.pitlochryautumn festival.co.uk
