RENOWNED saxophonists from throughout the UK performed at a special concert at the Beach Ballroom in Aberdeen yesterday.

As part of the annual Sound festival, north-east saxophonists played alongside one of the UK’s leading saxophone ensembles, Andy Scott’s SaxAssault.

The Aberdeenshire Saxophone Orchestra and the National Saxophone Choir of Great Britain also played at the event, dubbed the Massed Saxophone Gala Concert.

It marked the end of Saxfest, a four-day programme of Saxophone-related events that included both talks and performances from experts.

Andy Scott’s SaxAssault, which features nine saxophonists and a four-piece rhythm section, also performed at the Lemon Tree in Aberdeen on Saturday night.

The three-week Sound festival, which runs until November 17, features more than 80 public events at north-east venues.
