Buddies manager frustrated yet again

ST MIRREN manager Gus MacPherson insists his players must find more belief when they attack after failing to take anything from last night's game at Pittodrie.

Goals from Andrew Considine and Sone Aluko in the last 10 minutes gave Aberdeen victory against Saints and the result following an all too depressingly familiar pattern for the Buddies manager, who also saw his side lose to 10-man Hearts at home on Saturday.

MacPherson said: “I can't keep coming in after every game saying we deserved a point. I have said it for the last two or three weeks now. We have held our own against good teams in this league and it is extremely disappointing to have lost again.

“The players are working hard in training, but it is doing it out on the pitch where it matters. We defend well as a unit, but someone has to show belief in the final third instead of hoping someone else will do it. We have got to be more positive."

MacPherson found the 2-0 defeat at Pittodrie particularly hard to take as his team had passed the ball well against Jimmy Calderwood's side, but without failing to trouble Dons keeper Jamie Langfield.

He said: “I couldn't see Aberdeen scoring as we had defended so well in the second half before carrying a threat of our own on the counter-attack. Decision making in the final third is the most important part of the game and it is the difference between winning and losing."
