stretching credulity

Aberdeen Angus tall tale

Published: 18/11/2008

JOANNA Lumley is a woman with much to admire: she is a talented actress, comedienne and tireless campaigner on behalf of the Gurkha soldiers denied the right to remain in Britain because of government red tape.

But she is surely stretching credulity a bit too far by laying claim to the creation of the famed Aberdeen Angus cattle.

In an interview in which she detailed her Scots ancestry, Ms Lumley claimed that an uncle a few times removed had crossbred the first Aberdeen Angus.

We suspect that someone has fed Ms Lumley porkies.
