If £750 million was being spent on a golf course, if not the greatest in the world, it would be the most extraordinary. The fact is, a few million is for the course and the rest of this "investment" is folk buying properties on the adjacent housing scheme. Although not a golfer, I am sceptical of it ever hosting an open. The R&A are a conservative lot who prefer their traditional venues and are also unlikely to want to associate with a person like Trump.
