VIDEO: Highlands braced for visit from Jeremy Clarkson and Grand Tour crew

These pictures show the scene for the upcoming episode of Jeremy Clarkson’s new multimillion-pound online show.

The Grand Tour will this weekend be held on the banks of the furthest south-western tip of Loch Ness, just outside Fort Augustus.

The show reunites Clarkson with his former co-hosts on the BBC’s Top Gear Richard Hammond and James May and has already started streaming on Amazon Prime.

The studio segments of the show are being filmed in a large tent which is touring the world with the presenters and crew.

It has previously been pitched in South Africa and California as well as in the UK in Whitby, Yorkshire.

Programme makers have kept details of the filming at Loch Ness very hush-hush.

But yesterday Jenny Mackenzie, co-owner of the Old Pier House bed and breakfast, revealed that some of the production team had been in touch to arrange borrowing two of her boats during the week.

And Mrs Mackenzie, who runs the guest house with her husband, Ossian, said that they had about a dozen workers staying with them recently who were there to put up the tents on Friday before leaving on Sunday morning.

She said the team also want to use her land for locating transmission equipment as the signal is much better there than at the site itself, which is on the opposite shore almost exactly a mile away.View over tents and lochView across Loch Ness

Mrs Mackenzie added: “We’ve been seeing these brilliant bright lights across the loch every night and there’s been a huge amount of activity.

“We are hoping to get a look inside as we have someone coming on Tuesday to use two of our boats, and we’ll hopefully be able to persuade him to show us around. We are not sure why they are wanting to use the boats.

“In the village there are rumours going round about whether the road will have to be closed off during filming – but they’re only rumours.

“Having them all in the village for the week can only be a good thing for the local economy.”

Earlier this year, the Top Gear team visited the Highlands – but their car blew a gasket during the segment in the north.
