Film showcasing the best of Banff and Macduff unveiled

A new film has been launched to boost the fortunes of two north-east towns.

The two-minute film showcases the best of Banff and Macduff, and features Duff House, Deveronvale Football Club, Banff Bridge and the views out to the Moray Firth.

Macduff Aquarium, the recently revamped silversmith smiddy in Banff and Macduff Shipyards also make an appearance.

Banff councillor John Cox is backing the new promotional video

It is part of a council-led bid to entice investment, visitors and new residents to the towns, which sit a little over a mile apart.

Banff councillor John Cox is a fan of the mini movie and hopes it will result in more tourists heading to the region.

He said these videos can be “hugely effective” and this latest feature shows the best of the region.

Mr Cox said: “These films are a good way for getting a message across and can be hugely affective.

“The real success of this is getting people to share it and hopefully attracting more visitors to the area.

“We can’t complete with the big cities, but do have so much to offer.”

Last night, an Aberdeenshire Council spokesman said the video was aimed at showing what the both of the communities have to offer.

He said: “The video has been developed by the Banff and Macduff Development Partnerships to promote the towns and the opportunities available locally.

“We really wanted to showcase the business, community and leisure activities that exist in this beautiful part of Aberdeenshire and hope it will encourage more people to consider Banff and Macduff as places to live, work or visit.

“The video has been designed to be used within websites to aid recruitment to the area and to promote the area to investors, as it shows two vibrant and varied economies.”

It is not the first time that a video has been created to boost the north-east.

Last year Macduff Medical Practice used a seven-minute film as part of their recruitment drive for a new GP.
